Removal of Fine Hair
What Is the Q-Switch Laser?
The Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser is an advanced medical device originally designed to treat skin pigmentation issues, melasma, and tattoo removal. In recent years, it has also proven to be highly effective in reducing fine and vellus hair — the light, thin hair that traditional laser systems often struggle to target.
The Q-Switch works by emitting high-energy, ultra-short light pulses (in nanoseconds) that break down pigment particles or affect delicate hair follicles without damaging the surrounding skin.
How Does It Work on Fine Hair?
Fine or “vellus” hair contains less melanin compared to thicker, darker hair, which makes it harder for conventional lasers to detect.
The Q-Switch laser overcomes this challenge by delivering extremely fast pulses that create a photo-acoustic and
thermal effect inside the skin, resulting in:
-
Gentle vibrations within the hair follicle that gradually weaken it.
-
Indirect thermal damage that slows and reduces future hair growth.
-
Safe and effective results for the face, sensitive areas, and clients with soft or light-colored hair.

?Why We Use It at Dermapro
Because we understand how challenging fine facial hair can be—especially for clients with sensitive or darker skin tones—we’ve integrated Q-Switch technology as a safe, effective, and proven solution for long-term hair reduction.
At Dermapro, we use the device as part of a customized treatment plan, often combining it with other advanced laser systems like Candela or Nordlys, depending on your skin and hair type.

Are the Results Permanent?
Results from Q-Switch laser hair reduction are progressive and cumulative.
While the hair doesn’t disappear completely after the first session, it becomes thinner, lighter, and slower to regrow over time. With consistent sessions, many hairs eventually stop growing altogether.
